Question by Martin W: Can i go on holiday to florida usa with many different convictions including possesion of class a drugs?
I currently live in the uk and the worst conviction i have is getting caught with class a drugs 5 years ago. I have since settled down and had a child and would like to go on a family holiday to florida. Does anyone have any advice or their own stories??

Really the holiday objective is to relax, eat good quality food (without buffet restrictions) and sip on cocktails made with fresh ingredients. Caribbean has been suggested but any specific reccomendations out there? And no we are not set on the caribbean – we just want the right package at the right price.
Where in Cuba, have you had a personal experience of the food somewhere?

Don’t know, but there should be a customer service number on the back of the card. you can call them and ask. They should know if USPS accepts their card…if not you will just have to ask the post office.

If it is an actual Canadian calendar, the dates will obviously be the same, but some holidays will be different. Independence Day might not be there, Canada Day will, the Queen’s Birthday will, Thanksgiving might be a different date, etc. Although the US holidays might be on there too, since Canadian holidays often appear on US calendars.

These days are recognized in Yahoo calendar only if you include holidays from Canada or Mexico as calendar preferences.
Thank you. At my job, we try to recognize all cultural holidays on our in-house calendar. I was surprised by the absence of these two important days to the Christian community. I had not considered that they were not considered national holidays.

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (Irish pronunciation: [ˈsˠaunʲ]; from the Old Irish samain).[1] The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes [2] regarded as the “Celtic New Year”.[3] Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.[4][5]

History of name
The term Halloween is shortened from All Hallows’ Even (both “even” and “eve” are abbreviations of “evening”, but “Halloween” gets its “n” from “even”) as it is the eve of “All Hallows’ Day”,[6] which is now also known as All Saints’ Day. It was a day of religious festivities in various northern European Pagan traditions,[3] until Popes Gregory III and Gregory IV moved the old Christian feast of All Saints’ Day from May 13 (which had itself been the date of a pagan holiday, the Feast of the Lemures) to November 1. In the ninth century, the Church measured the day as starting at sunset, in accordance with the Florentine calendar. Although All Saints’ Day is now considered to occur one day after Halloween, the two holidays were, at that time, celebrated on the same day. Liturgically, the Church traditionally celebrated that day as the Vigil of All Saints, and, until 1970, a day of fasting as well. Like other vigils, it was celebrated on the previous day if it fell on a Sunday, although secular celebrations of the holiday remained on the 31st. The Vigil was suppressed in 1955, but was later restored in the post-Vatican II calendar.

halloween is not much of what it once was in the eyes of the public but i think it is still important.

In general, the school calendar works like this.

School starts in September, you get 2 weeks off from Christmas to New Years, you get one week off around Easter for spring break.

You also get all the long weekends through the year for statutory holidays.

Post-secondary usually ends in April or May, depending on the school and the course.

Best bet would be to check with the actual school that you will be attending.

Fly into Salt Lake, 3 round trip. Rent an economy car at Budget, per day for 5 days = 0, then drive up to Big Sky Montana, Weekday lift tickets with 3 days of skiing 0 which comes to 13 the rooms are 0 per night, so you would need a total of 4 people when you come to keep it under the 1400. By the way Big Sky has some of the best skiing anywhere, even though they do not have night skiing. I would recommend Canaan Valley, in West Virginia for a nice get away with night skiing, would have to fly into Duller Airport and drive 5 hours to make that one doable but is still very nice and cheaper than Big Sky.

Neither of these areas are super well known like Vale, Colarado, or some of the other major ski resorts, which is what makes these nice, not so crowded and plenty of room just to fly down the mountain.

My dad took me to snowbasin in Park City, Utah. It was amazing. we saw so many people from europe who came here because it was the same as skiing in he alps, only cheaper. It was awesome.

My family and I are planning a summer vacation and we’d like to go somewhere warm,sunny and wet so my husband suggested a beach, but we don’t know where to go. We live near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and we’d like to go somewhere with some sort of campground near walking distance to the beach, resterants near by, and clean. Not sure if you’re driving or flying or where you’re coming from but the Muskokas are a couple of hours north of Toronto. There are lots of nice resorts in the area, I’ve stayed at Clevelands House and enjoyed it. Not sure if you’ll see any bears but there’s plenty of nature in the area. Quebec City is actually a wonderful place for a holiday. My French sucks, so I would never live there, but to visit, it is a great place to visit. Very historic, romantic, and as close to a European feel as you can get in North America.

Many love to see the mountains between Alberta and BC. I’ve always enjoyed visiting the Maritimes. The people there are very friendly, and the places are pretty laid back, excellent for a quite, restful vacation. Nova Scotia is particularly good, but others are fine as well, even if off the beaten track. It is also an inexpensive place to visit.

Ottawa has loads of national museums and such, and many festivals, right ’round the year.

Some like the urban experiences, while others like to “get away from it all.” I live near Dawson City, Yukon. The population more than triples every summer as people flock in to work in the tourist industries. There are many tourists that come here to see the home of the Klondike Gold Rush, and for the wilderness. Others love Vancouver – it is a beautiful city all year around, with loads to see and do.

It depends on what you like – there is a lot to choose from!

I want to go on holiday with my family next Easter (2011). There are two adults, a 17 yr old and a 14 year old. we have a reasonable budget. we’ve looked at dude ranches in the states but they are all a bit expensive for a two week holiday.
i’d be happy to look at something in the states, canada, mexico or anywhere in europe or the middle east.

Yes this is when the kids are out of school from late may to end of August depending on were you live in the US.You could if you are worried about being crowded.I have been to DisneyWorld many times but not Disneyland.Enjoy your trip.

I am looking to get a deal for the week Sept22 – however the prices are still pretty steep. Am getting a bit concerned. I got a deal to Cyprus in early june, two week before, for less than £150 per person?
Does anyone know if there is a particular reason they are so expensive? I thought as it was the end of the season and kids were back at school it would have been cheap?

It may be the availability or lack of flights. at peak times there is a high percentage of charters flying out to holiday destinations but they ease off after the school holidays. so I am guessing that the competition is not there.

Holiday inn because it is right on the beach and the rennassiance is right down town and you have to take a boat to get to the beach and also all of the hotels are on the same beach as the holiday inn.

There is no such thing as a working holiday visa for the United States. After you get a passport, you may apply for a B2 tourist visa through the nearest American embassy or consulate. See the site below and read all the instructions. you need to fill out the forms on line and print them out. Then follow directions on how to call for an interview. It will tell you how long the wait is to get an interview.

Where exactly does he live? There are national holidays that everyone observes throughout the country and some holidays that are known/official holidays throughout the country but not every area gives students the day off (ie Columbus Day).

National Holidays for this school year- he should have all these days off except maybe Columbus Day which not all school districts observe because he/his legacy killed a lot of Native Americans, etc.

• September 1, 2008: Labor Day [1st monday in Sept]
• October 13, 2008: Columbus Day (observed) [2nd monday in Oct]
• November 11, 2008: Veterans’ Day [Nov. 11 every year]
• November 27, 2008: Thanksgiving Day [4th thursday in Nov]
• December 25, 2008: Christmas Day [Dec. 25 every year]
• January 1, 2009: New Year’s Day [Jan. 1 every year]
• January 19, 2009: Martin Luther King Day [3rd monday in Jan]
• February 16, 2009: Presidents Day (observed) [3rd monday in Feb]
note: Presidents Day is also Washington’s Birthday (observed)
• May 25, 2009: Memorial Day (observed) [last monday in May]

School districts decide their breaks like Christmas/winter vacation and spring break on an individual basis so those will not be the same everywhere. There are also days off for students where the teachers have to work called ‘teacher planning days’ or something like that. Those are different in each school district/town. And some school districts have strange schedules that are just not like the schedules of the rest of the country?
Christmas Break is usually 2-3 weeks off, from Mid-December to early January. Spring Break is 1 or maybe 2 weeks off in March or April. Usually it includes Easter but not always.

Just look up ‘school calendar’ plus the name of the town or school district he lives in. The full calendar should be online if he goes to public school. If its private school find the schools website and see if they have a calendar up.
