Where to go in Europe?
Question by kateosunshine: Where to go in Europe?
I’m planning a holiday in Europe this summer with my parents but i’m not sure where to go. I want to go somewhere hot (preferably near the sea) with alot of culture! I’m not too familiar with europe and where to go, I was thinking maybe spain or italy. Where would you suggest? Also we don’t really want to be in the middle of a big city!
Plus could you mention what month would be best to go there? We can only go during July and August really!
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks in Advance!

July and August are very good choices ! I would suggest you go to Italy because you will find sea (Sardinia, Sicilia) and loads of culture if you go to Rome. you can also go to Croatia which is really nice. Otherwise, France is a good destination as well.

not croatia! ferry tickets went up 30-50%! you’ll pay 230€ for 4 people to get to an island.
Either Spain or Italy would easily suit your criteria. Both July and August have hot weather – there are lots of interesting smaller cities/towns where you can enjoy yourself. In Italy, you could consider places like the towns around Garda Lake, Verona, some of the hill towns in Tuscany, Ravenna, or many other choices and still easily get around on trains to visit other places in Italy. If you come here to Italy, I would recommend July over August. August is the vacation period for Italy . Tourist places will be open, but some businesses in the smaller places will be closed for part of August.
Spain and Italy are both very hot with nice weather during July/August. I think that if you want a lot of culture, the bigger cities are better for that (i e Barcelona and Rome). I don’t know very much about Spain (only been there once) but Italy is very beautiful in the summer. Two places I recommend are Venice and Lake Garda. Sure, Venice can get crowded but it is very beautiful and has a lot of history. It is very different there. But Lake Garda is very beautiful. You can swim there but there are no sand beaches.
I also recommend Lake Constance which is between Germany, Switzerland and Austria. That place is also very nice and still pretty warm in the summer. If you’re on the German side you can see Switzerland on the other side, and I think you can take a ferry across too. It’s pretty amazing.
