Where should I holiday (in Europe)?

Question by concretevidence: Where should I holiday (in Europe)?
I’ve got a British Airways voucher that will get me anywhere in Europe for free.

I’m a 20 year old male, probably going on my own though perhaps with a friend. I’m planning to go in late June for about 4 days and I want culture, good food and fine wine!

Any ideas where I should go? (not Paris, London or Prague though as I’ve been there before!)

Thanks!x

Lisbon is a great city with lots of good restaurants, seafood their speciality, and plenty of good wine available. Portugese people aregenerally very helpful to foreigners.

  2. Culture? How about the Netherlands? Rotterdam perhaps…
Or how ’bout Germany? Denmark? Or U may try Sweden or Swiss

  3. Try Germany, maybe Hamburg or Berlin. We have good wine, but our beer is even better! We have the best sunny weather in late June and July – and you will get hit by the cultur and history right away.
    Have a wonderful trip!

  4. I’d say:

Berlin: whatever they say it’s never really hot, but maybe June would be a good month for going there. Beautiful city with lot’s to see, although I personally don’t like the food there.

Barcelona: I don’t know why many tourist fail to connect Spain with culture when there’s so much to see, from Gaudí to many Modernism museums. You can also go down to Tarragona and have a look at Roman bits. Wine and food in Spain are ones of the best in Europe.

Rome: Florence is also good, but I love Italy’s capital. Not only is THE city for culture, but it’s also gorgeous. Anywhere you look you see a piece of history. The food is also really good,as is the wine. As you can see, I’m very fond of Mediterranean food! The weather should be really nice too, as in Barcelona. Hot, but not too hot

As someone pointed up there, Lisbon is also a good option, although I personally find it’s not as charming as the other three

  5. Athens is great, you can visit the acropolis and the national museum, and best of all watch a play of music concert at the ancient theater of herodion atticus at the acropolis! its unforgettable!

Well Rome is a good option for culture food and wine. There is quite a bit to see and do there I have to say and you can do a day trip down to Pompeii from Rome, see the Vatican, see the roman history.
