Where is the best place to travel in Europe in January?

Question by DanDaa777: Where is the best place to travel in Europe in January?
Where is the best place to travel in Europe in mid january for a couple? We don’t want a romantic holiday but more like a city break. Somewhere with pretty good clubs & bars as well as a bit of january sales. Maybe if there’s a bit of snow too it would be great.

It is really cold in most places in January and nobody is out to much. I guess if you went any big city there would me clubs and sales. Pragues would probably be a good choice or somewhere smaller in Austria like Salzburg or Innsbrook. Because of the skiing there is still lots going on. If you go skiing you will find that there is still a lot of drinking going on but not so much in the way of shopping.

It’s going to be cold pretty much everywhere so if I were you I would embrace the cold and travel to Switzerland and Austria by train. You would be able to see amazing fairytale views of the Alps and even go skiing if you’d like. Also, Prague is always my favorite city…and Budapest!

Try Interlaken Switzerland or Montreux, Switzerland or Salzburg, Austria. Both countries would be amazing, I’m sure in the heart of winter!

Have fun! I’ll be there in November and then again in December!!

I would recommend Spain in the winter. It is the warmest place in Europe. It is around 20C depending on the day. Tha’t not too bad considering everywhere else is sooo cold.

    Greece!
Or San Sabastian, Spain, (though it may be rainy there …).
