Where is Mordor, I can’t seem to find it anywhere on a map? Please help?

Question by Rowan: Where is Mordor, I can’t seem to find it anywhere on a map? Please help?
I’m going for a holiday to Europe this Christmas holiday and I have been looking for Mordor (as in Lord of the Rings). It would be fantastic to visit a place of such historical importance, but i can’t seem to find it anywhere on a map? Please help?

One does not simply walk into Mordor.

Mordor is a made up place, but if you are referring to the location that the movie was filmed, it was in New Zealand.

    Check out that link.

Well, I’m not sure why you’re having such trouble. Last I checked, mapquest had pretty specific directions up. Well, anyway, once you get past Rivendell/France, home of the homosexual elves, you need to head southeast towards Gondor/Greece, land of the easily aggravated lunatics. If you manage to get past there unscathed, Mordor/Iraq is a hot, dry wasteland filled with misshapen man-beasts. Have fun there, but be sure not to mention the name “Frodo” to any of the natives there. They still haven’t gotten over the whole topple-evil-dictator-without-your-consent thing.
    Hope this helps! :)

    Haha! Lol!
    Too funny!
Closest you will get is Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Ruapehu both in New Zealand, that’s what they filmed.
Or the volcano of Stromboli off Sicily, were Tolkien is reported to have based it on when he saw it on a cruise.
