Q&A: What are some good places to visit for holiday in Russia?

Question by Matt: What are some good places to visit for holiday in Russia?
Except Moscow and Saint Petersbug.
I’m sure all of Russia is great but i should consider the limited time and budget. So far I added Krasnodar to my list and maybe Sochi.

Depends on the type of Holiday really. Sochi is ok, and i like the stolbi national park near Krasnoyarsk.for a walking/hiking holiday.
For culture its worth spending a few days in Moscow and St petersburg but its expensive.
Maybe a rail holiday perhaps and visit lake Baikel.
Much depends on what you want to see and do, but do learn some Russian or you will find things a bit difficult

If you want a hot summer vacation, I would explore the Crimean – which technically is a little far away from the locale (But it is beautiful in history and in its beaches and resorts). Sochi is magnificent! Yekaterinburg is pretty interesting. If you were planning on going during the winter and wanted a cold vacation, Irkutsk (a beautiful Siberian City and the beginning of the Trans-Siberian rail tour) fantastic!
You could also check out Vladivostok, the “San Francisco of Russia” on the Pacific end of the country. I would definitely visit, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Volgograd, Sergiyev Posad and Astrakhan: some of the cradles of Russian culture outside Moscow and St. Petersburg. If you want to go to the very top of the map, Murmansk is the largest Northern city in Russia (several kilometers away from Finland.) But Sochi as you named, would be great, and I would also take a ferry to the Crimean Island of the cost of Sochi.
    Have a nice trip, Dasvedanya!
