Q&A: Texting England from the Republic of Ireland?

Question by bleachfan69: Texting England from the Republic of Ireland?
If someone were to send me a text message on my mobile whilst they were on holiday in the Republic of Ireland (Dublin) would their number still come up on my phone? I’m in England.

Someone said to me that even if I had their number saved in my contacts, if they were in the Republic of Ireland (but not Northern Ireland) the number would be or resemble +440759 XX XXXXX.

So, it wouldn’t come up with their name but their number and the +44 at the beginning.

Thanks for any help!

My daughter is in UK and I am in Republic of Ireland. Her number is saved onto my contacts, and when she rings or ttexts me, her name shows up. If her own phone is out of credit and she uses someone else’s, that phone number shows up as 004475 9XX XXXX. The only time I get (no number) is when the other person has kept the number secret, or if I am being phoned from a landline which is ex directory.

To text england from Dublin you need to add the code 0044 so that would show up on it with their number.
