Q&A: summer in the Netherlands and a holiday question?
Question by picc0999: summer in the Netherlands and a holiday question?
In my area the first sunday after school lets out for the summer is Father’s day. Do the Dutch people also celebrate this day?
Once school lets out in the Netherlands, what do the families usually do and/or where do they usually travel to?

Yes, people in the Netherlands also celebrate Father,s day. People, in general have more vacation days than they have in the USA. Different people do different things, just like in the USA Some visit relatives, some go to the islands, some visit other countries, some stay home.
fathers day is on the 2nd
father’s day is not a big deal like mother’s day here in Netherlands. Normally kids do the same things like mother’s day.
the 2nd of june it’s the father’s day like everywhere in the globe.
What do the Dutch families with kids usually do – they’re going to swimming pool or take their caravan plus 4 bikes or more, their own pan and food can that they prepare to cook the same meals as at home and park the car close to the water – about 10km away from home. or they rent the holiday house – somewhere close the German’s border.
father’s day is always celebrated on sunday so we don’t need to keep our kids home from school cause school is out on sunday and the next day everybody just goes back to school and work again, but yeah, we celebrate it here as well.
when school is out, most famelies go on vacation with the kids, either by car/caravan traveling to france and spain and some fly and go to spain, turkey and greece, lots of famelies also just stay with in the country and go camping wich is fun to do.
me, i usually stay home, just go on little day trips with my daughter wich is fun to do as well.
here in holland the country is devided in three during summer break and other big school breaks so that not all will have to take off from work and roads won’t be as crowded, north, middle and south, this year the middle of holland will be last on going on summer break, wich is for me, i won’t be going on summer break till the end of july and it’s usually for six weeks (the schools that is) jobs is different, depending on where you work, i am lucky cause my work is school related so i do get six weeks off
