Q&A: is there a bus or ferry service between Bar (Montenegro) and Dubrovnik (Croatia)?
Question by Euan T: is there a bus or ferry service between Bar (Montenegro) and Dubrovnik (Croatia)?
We will be flying in to Dubrovnik from Scotland in July and would like to see a bit of Serbia and Montenegro for our holiday, instead of sitting on a Croatian beach for three weeks! The train from Bar looks like a good way to get to Serbia, but we’d need to get from Dubrovnik to there first – any ideas?

Hmm, doesn’t seem like it. I checked the Jadrolinija (Croatian ferry company) site, there are no lines to Bar. I also checked the Dubrovnik coach terminal page, and there is only a bus that goes to Podgorica and stops in Budva, that’s the closest. I’m guessing there should be a bus from Budva to Bar, but I can’t seem to dig up any more info about that. Unfortunately Dubrovnik has no rail connection, so those are the only public transport options.
What do you think? Answer below!
There’s a regular bus service between Dubrovnik and coastal towns in Montenegro. The bus route runs all the way to Ulcinj, on the Albanian border stopping at all important places (Hercegnovi, Kotor etc.) on the way. I think the schedule is unchanged for quite some time: departing Dubrovnik at 10.30 am and 20:30 pm on Mon-Wed-Sat. The Libertas bus operator schedule – hope you can read the place names!
