Yes, I’m English but lived in Siberia for a year. I did the Trans-Siberian railway, spent a month with my Russian boyfriend’s family in Volgograd as well as short breaks to Tobolsk, Nizhnevartivsk, Moscow and Petersburg. I love Russia and want to move there one day.

Yes, I spent much of my life in what is currently the Russian Federation until I finished my university level studies. I did travel a lot then, but I still spent the majority of my holidays in Russia. I think that nothing can beat Sankt Petersburg for the winter holidays, but nothing can beat Sochi for the summer holidays. I still go home to visit my family and friends each summer, but I always am sure to leave them and travel to Sochi for a short time. It’s right on the Black Sea, and it’s a beautiful city.

I’m a foreigner living in Russia. In a small town about 10 hours from Moscow called Kursk. I do go on holidays to st petersburg and Moscow. And I have been to Volvograd too. I must recommend st petersburg, the views are breathtakingly crazy! Then there are the castles, which are to die for. But there are some aspects you need to be careful of. Like it’s not recommendable to step out at night (that’s for us, foreigners anyway), for fear of the skinhead attacks. A few deaths have been reported this year alone and no actions were taken. Just pray for the best, I suppose

Spent Xmas there in Moscow once- cold as kraut. Still a beautiful fascinating city to visit, even in the cold. Don’t miss Red Square, whatever you do… and the underground mall by the square used to sell NY style cheesecake(!)- take that for what it’s worth! Have fun!

I also would go to St Petersburg if I went back

Latvia, of course, is not part of Russia, but not far away, either. Was there on New Year’s. It’s a beautiful city… highly recommend it! (Also cold as kraut)
