Germany celebrates White Sunday the week after Easter. So this would be March 30, 2008.
As for a site listing all German holidays: go to http://www.cometogermany.com/ENU/infocenter/school_breaks_holidays_6788.htm
This site appears to be run by some German tourism organization, but they really list all school breaks and holidays, religious and otherwise.
Comment on RainerReza: “Whitsunday” in German would be “Weisser Sonntag”. “Pfingstsonntag” would be Ascension Day (or Pentacostal Day, depending on your denomonation).
Here’s a list of the 2008 German holidays:
01.01.2008 Neujahr
06.01.2008 Heilige Drei Könige
04.02.2008 Rosenmontag
21.03.2008 Karfreitag
23.03.2008 Ostern
24.03.2008 Ostermontag
01.05.2008 Maifeiertag
01.05.2008 Christi Himmelfahrt
11.05.2008 Pfingstsonntag
12.05.2008 Pfingstmontag
22.05.2008 Fronleichnam
15.08.2008 Mariä Himmelfahrt
03.10.2008 Tag der Deutschen Einheit
01.11.2008 Allerheiligen
24.12.2008 Heiligabend
25.12.2008 1. Weihnachtstag
26.12.2008 2. Weihnachtstag
01.01.2009 Neujahr
Weißer Sonntag (White Sunday) is on 30 March 2008.
you’ll find all that in http://www.feiertage.net
I think White Sunday is also called Whitsunday, or, in German, Pfingstsonntag. According to this page:
http://www.feiertage.net/uebersicht.php?year=2008
Pfingstsonntag is on May 11, 2008. I think that page presents a more accessible overview than what’s been recommended so far. Also note that German calendar format is day-month-year (dd/mm/yy).
For future reference, if you have a Google Account, you can open a Google Calendar, go to settings, and search for public calendars using the words “German holidays” (in quotes). Then you can import all the German holidays so they show up on your calendar.
Hi,its March 30.
Which you a great time in Germany.
