One week in the Caribbean: looking for suggestions where to go.?
Question by Julia: One week in the Caribbean: looking for suggestions where to go.?
We live in the Caribbean in the British Virgin Islands and we are very overworked. We’ve finally been given a holiday in May for 1 week. We want somewhere not too exclusive and posh – any sort of accomodation will do. We were thinking Puerto Rico. Need somewhere with a fair amount of things to do, don’t want to sit on the beach all day. Any suggestions? Also has to be accessible. We were also thinking about St Maarten, Guadeloupe, and Guyana.

well, I think that it depends on what you like to do. You can find anything in Puerto Rico. If you like dark caves you can visit las cuevas de camuy in Camuy or if you like more info on San Juan, its capital, you can visit it’s historic castles like El Morro and San Felipe de Cristobal. Plus, if you like the nightlife, SJ is a great place to meet new people and have a good time. But word to the wise: I live in Puerto Rico and if I were you, I wouldn’t stay in SJ because the hotels are expensive.

Three names you need to remember St Martin, St Barths, and Anguilla my friend
Puerto Rico!!
Beautiful beaches and scenery, awesome night clubs, great dining places. You can go horseback riding, hiking, camping, scuba diving, sky diving, cave adventures, sight seeing… you name it, Puerto Rico has it.
It is an island full of culture, history, and very enjoyable people.
True facts:
1. Flamenco beach in Culebra is considered by the Travel Channel the 3rd most beautiful beach in the world, following 2 in Hawaii.
2. The Miss Universe pageant was celebrated in PR for two consecutive years because they loved the island.
3. Major sports events are celebrated in the island, like the first round of the World Baseball Classic, Basketball Pre-Olympics, etc.
Don’t miss out!

If you have no children then Puerto Rico,it has alot of night life in San Juan, but if your not looking for that San Juan has historical Places too like El morro and…i forgot the name of the same other place that has another name.It is beautifull at night time i admit,They also have El condado, that is a nice place.ohhh and they also have las cueves de camuy or El Yunque, thoose are the best thing Puerto Rico has, beleive me it is.they have alot of nice latin restaurants. You could also go to Luquillo’s beaches that have like little food shops on the beach that sell alot of nice stuff like souvenirs and food.I live here and i’m bored because besides that it gets boring after a while when u live here.i like the beaches the most.ohh thatis another thing very important, never go to Humacaos beach, they are filthy, the water is always brown, always.El condado,Luquillo and the san juan beaches are the best of all.
Puerto Rico is a good choice. Old San Juan is just beautiful. The nightlife is great, lots of things to do,it doesnt take long to go from one city to the other.
Condado is nice with lots of hotels.
