Going for holiday to Belgium, and need some help Plz?

Question by Mpire: Going for holiday to Belgium, and need some help Plz?
I’m going to go to Belgium for holiday, and i was wondering what’s the cost of some stuff there. Is Belgium expensive? For example how much would a McDonalds meal cost there? Or water bottle? average taxi ride? Pepsi/CocaCola can?

My other question is are there any shopping malls and what are the best ones?

Hi, first off all…welcome to Belgium!

We don’t think Belgium is that expensive but it depends off course where you are from…
A McDonald’s meal isn’t that expensive; I believe that a burger is just 1 euro (special deal). Last time I went, I took a fillet-o-fish, French fries and a coke and payed around 5 euros.
You can buy a water bottle for 50 euro cents if you buy them in the right shop and a can of soft drink goes for 60 euro cents.
Just look out where you buy them…if you buy them in tourist areas you’ll pay much more then when you buy them in supermarkets.
There are a lot off shopping malls, but they are mostly outside the city. But the large cities all have nice shopping streets and most off the shops which are in the malls are also there.
The best supermarket (price/quality) is “liddle” or “aldi”. They just don’t sell a lot off the well known brands but the quality is good.
Don’t know if you are staying in a hotel, but most hotels don’t mind if you bring drinks to your room. Just don’t buy a whole crate of beer and don’t bring it in to obviously. And the water from the tap is drinkable in Belgium so buy one bottle of water and fill it in your room.
Have a nice stay in Belgium!

  1. Hi,

When compared to some cities abroad (Paris f.i.), I think Belgium’s country for all budgets. You’ll find everything in different price categories. For the examples you asked :

McDonald’s : I never go there, but I think you can eat there for 10.00-12.00€.
Bottle of water: 0.25€ (when you buy 6 bottles at once at the supermarket) – 2.00€ (when bought one by one in shops visited by tourists, or automatic distributors).
CocaCola can : 0.50€ (supermarket) – 1.50€ (idem, automatic distributor).
Taxi (in Brussels) : around 15€.

There are shopping malls in every city :
