no, 4th July is Independence Day – but UK has not been invaded for centuries (last time was the Vikings!), and so does not need to highlight and celebrate independence.
England (one country in the United Kingdom) has St George’s Day, Scotland (another country) has St Andrew’s, Wales = St David’s, Northern Ireland = St Patrick’s I guess.
But these are not public holidays
We have St Georges day in England. St Andrews day in Scotland. St David’s day in Wales and the most celebrated one I find is St Patricks day in Ireland.
No it does not. National days are usually for countries to celebrate their freedom from some sort of oppression.
The 4th of July celebrates the American Independence from the United Kingdom. It was once a colony of the British Empire.
We have Saint Georges Day which is the Patron Saint for England on the 23 April. Its not a Bank Holiday though so we don’t get the day off.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own Patron Saint Days as well.
