Why are flights to east Asia half as expensive as to Europe?

Question by jsprplc2006: Why are flights to east Asia half as expensive as to Europe?
I live in Western Canada, and the distances from where I live to the east coast of Asia and the west coast of Europe are both about 8000 km.

However, all other things held constant, flights to Europe are about 2 times the cost as flights to Asia. Why is this?

because the airlines know that a lot of people would want to go to visit east asia so they bump up the prices.
