From Amsterdam you can travel to London by plane, train, bus/coach, or train and ferry.
For the plane, I prefer EasyJet:

But also check the other companies:

Ryan Air does not fly from Amsterdam but leaves from an other Dutch airport and with the extra travel time and cost, is not a good option. (But do check them too, they might have changed the routes.)

For the train, there is Eurostar, leaving from Brussels, you can get train tickets from Amsterdam and you would only need to change once.
Often not the cheapest option, but still all day travel, and rather comfy too:

For the ferry day service, coming from Amsterdam you will reach London after 10 PM, allright if you have a place to go to, but if you are new to the city, better take the overnight service. The overnight service on the ferry is safe, you will have to book a bed in a cabin, and the ferries are not known for problems in the first place, but it does cost more.
This is the English version of the site, I will look further for the Dutch version, but the prices are alike both directions: http://www.stenaline.co.uk/ferry/rail-and-sail/holland/fares/

The bus is mostly the cheapest option, although it depends on when you book and how lucky you are, but overnight buses have a bad reputation. Even experienced travelers who often take the bus agree that they do not feel completely safe on them:
