Q&A: How to stop chili peppers causing diarrhea?
Question by Nelly7: How to stop chili peppers causing diarrhea?
Often when I eat dishes containing chili peppers it gives me diarrhea. Does anyone know a way to prevent or at least lessen this? I don’t particularly want to cut them out of my diet as I enjoy the taste, and I’m going on holiday to south-east Asia in a couple of months and want to be able to eat the nice spicy local food without worrying about the after effects.

Are you sure that it’s the peppers that are making you sick? Try taking a anti-diarrhea med before you eat, or an anti-acid med.

Was em down with some kao pectate.
I’ve had and seen the same in many people. It was simple for me to fix for myself and others.
You need to start gently. Then increase your amount each day.
I left the US with peptic ulcers. Moved to Mexico and had the same problem. I started eating chili and in 6 months I didn’t have ulcer problems either. That was 40 years ago.
One of our children had intestinal worms frequently. We all had to take the medication, sterilize the house, clothes, furniture, etc., then it would happen again because he was like any other kid and liked to play outside in the dirt. A local Doctor asked us if we fed him chili peppers. Our answer was no, he was too young. We started feeding him chili with just a drop at first, then got him up to eating with the rest of the family. Guess what? No more worms.
Did the same for our dog and fleas, plus garlic in his dog food.
Forget about the beeano or whatever! Passing gas is natural, let’er rip.
