Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale leading the race for India MRCA Deal
After exhaustive trials of six fighter jets, Indian Air Force (IAF) has made its choice clear to the Government on the kind of fighter jets needed. Front runners for the force are French fighter Dassault Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon built by the European consortium. Bernhard Gerwert, Chief, EADS, says “If you are taking into account the portfolio of EADS we can bring the bridge between civil aviation and military aviation.” But the Americans and Russians have lost out. Boeing’s F18 no longer a frontrunner and Sweden’s Gripen too falling off the Indian radar. Despite MiG 35s big thunder, its engine failing to impress while the F-16, according to the IAF has no future. Another reason favoring Rafale and Euro fighter is political. Thomas Matussek, German Ambassador, “We regard India as a strategic security partner and this is why we do not insist on an end user monitoring agreement period.” So when the mother of all defence deals is signed for the 126 Multi-Role Combat Aircraft either Rafale or the Euro fighter will fly away with the Rs 42000 crore deal.

the IAF must be fooling its people. F-16 is in use with the airforces of more than 25 countires. Even the no 1 air power the USA has 1200 f-16 in its arsenal.
Ask any IAF oficer the power of a Dassault Mirage 2000 as a multirole (Kargil War won thanks to Mirage 2000), then you will understand why IAF will trust Dassault Rafale for there next main Multirole Fighter .
The only thing at which Eurofighter is better is the cruising Speed of Mach 2 (Mach 1.8 for Rafale). But the Eurofighters maneuverability and Weapons systems are way inferior to the Rafale Ones (Proven during the Libya conflicts)…Eurofighter can’t even drop a nuclear bomb on its own.
Rafale is the only “true multirole” Fighter => Ground Attack (air ground missiles), Nuclear Strikes, Accurate Bombing, Air superiority (air-to-air missiles).
Rafale has great agility with all weapons loaded, stealth technology and advanced avionic systems. Can be used by Navy and operate on Aircraft Carrier.
The superiority of the Rafale over the Typhoon has been proven :

Fingers crossed the EF wins. Would be interesting to see those thrust vectoring nozzles on the EF.

Agreed. Italy blocked India’s UNSC proposition. Eurofighter should be dumped as it shall bring more than 4-5 countries to deal with on political ends. Besides, India already uses French mods and planes and has a trained force to deal with the issues. BTW, Rafale is also economical.

France a more reliable and trusted partner compared to Brits, Germans, Spanish or Italian.The Rafale is best and the pakis have no access to Rafale ‘s secrets as they do to with the Typhoon flying in saudi air force.

how can i proove a fair fight that hasnt happened? the only test between the eurofighter and rafale which might of been fair was this one.
Flug Revue” reports that in 2008 German Typhoon were pitted against French Rafales. The results are said to be “extremely gratifying”, the main difference being the “much greater thrust of the EJ200 engine.
@dj8work loool of course but proove it, and in UAE the rafale F3 performances were lowered at the F1 Standard so… it doesn’t change anything…

Some Eurofighter performances are still classified, but it is believed to fly as high as 60,000ft and to supercruise as fast as mach 2 (without any external load). The Singapore exercise(1 vs 3 F-16) is true, and even Americans wonder how it was possible. But according to many analysts, India needs an attacker-aircraft rather than a dogfighter, and the best aircraft which is not american is Rafale
@Raffix394 Haha ignores facts you haven’t laid down a fact yet. Yes the DERA was a computer simulation you think they really got all those planes together and tested them in combat?? And i’m the kiddie? haha.
@OlderG0ds None of the events I have mentioned are computer simulations, the EF still maintains high manouverbility eve at velovites over Mach 1. and has nothing to do with the f-16, but there is no reason to argue with someone like you, you are just a troll kiddie that ignores facts.
Those planes are unnececary, and they will never meet in real combat unless the USA invades Saudi Arabia.
@Raffix394 That was a computer simulation which can’t usually be trusted plus it was for the Eurofighter who knows they could have made it look better than it is. And not that that rumor even matters but it was just a rumor everything you hear about Eurofighter vs F-22 is rumors with nothing to back it up. F-22 wins end of story I don’t care Eurofighter is a updated F-16.
@OlderG0ds Plus the British Defense Research Agency let the Eurofighter, the Rafale,the F15 and the F22 compeate against the Su-35 in simulated battle the Rafaele was about as good as the Su-35 the Eurofighter was superior 4,5 to 1 the F22 was superior 10 to 1 and the F15 was inferior 1 to 1,3. The 15 is pretty much outdated on other ocashion a RAF EF got a radar lock on a F22 afterwards the US airforce canceled the simulated dog fight planned for the following day.
@OlderG0ds A Eurofighter already defeated 2 F15s in a simulated dog fight over Windermere when the two-seater RAF Eurofighter was ‘bounced’ from behind by the two F-15E fighters out then outmanouvered them and got into shooting positon. When did the F22 defeat 8 F15s in real life or in a simulated battle? … where did you get your information? the US airforce bought 115 F22s before 2007 161,592m$ each 200,266m$ with weapons (got cheaper after 2007).
@Raffix394 No offense but you don’t know what you’re talking about The F-22 can take out 8 F-15′s by itself at one time so it’s far more cost efficient consider it costs 4x the amount of an F-15C.
The Typhoon costs £66.7m which is $110 million and the cost of a Raptor is $130 million. Raptor wins in cost effectiveness.And had they not limited the number built so low if it was 700 like planned it would be way cheaper.
