Earth Day project questions?

Question by redonkulous.: Earth Day project questions?
I know Earth Day already passed, but we had a project for that holiday and it is due Thursday.

We are making a model of the Earth using recycled stuff, but we’re still kind of stuck.

So, our questions are:
1. What items can we use for the model? And they have to be a reasonable size. We’re not making a gigantic one but something light that can fit through a door.

2. Should we paint the items blue and green that way it looks more like the Earth, or let our Earth look colorful?

3. If we do NOT paint the items on our model, should we put them in a certain way, like put warm colors near the equator, or put purples where Asia would be, or something like that? Or should we just put them anywhere?

I like to make spheres using pliant twigs, kind of like a basket, but shaped like a ball.

You should probably not define the land masses by political boundaries, but instead by the physical map. It could be colors that define elevations or colors that define terrain, like green for rainforests and tan for deserts. How about going to the thrift store and purchasing little toy animals and placing them according to their habitat? That would be great.

Make it look as realistic as possible. View the power point presentation of the Earth viewed from space, by Astronaut Ms.Sunitha Williams. That is the best guide and is available on the Net.
