My boyfriend and I have been together for nearly 2 years (were both 22) and his never been over seas and we have been planning to go nxt year once we have saved enough. My dad has told me today that he is planning a trip in 3 months to south east asia with just family for my mums 50th bday. My parents are paying for it and it’s just a family holiday for 2 weeks. How do I break it to my Bf that were going and his not? His really sensitive and I just don’t want to upset him. Ideas?? Thanks

Let him know it’s a family thing. You two are still saving up for a trip together, right? I doubt he’d want your parents paying for him to come along to celebrate your mom’s birthday. Kind of a fifth wheel thing. Just make sure to explain the situation, and also let him know that you’re looking forward to when you two can take a trip together.
