Should Santa Claus say “merry Xmas” or “happy holidays”?

Question by Akbani: Should Santa Claus say “merry Xmas” or “happy holidays”?
Google has a “Santa line” set up and he says “happy holidays”. Really? I thought Santa Claus was a Christmas figure, not a generic “holiday” tradition like every other Christmas aspect has become.

The message I heard on the site said, “Merry Christmas,” which is appropriate.

However, that a business would make a buck from fake Santa Claus messages is disconcerting. Why not leave it to the imagination?

Cheers,
