Norway and the northern lights
One of Alister Chapmans regular trips is to Arctic Norway in the winter to film the Northern Lights. This year when he went 200miles north of the Arctic circle the temperature got down to -36c (-33f). So cold in fact that one of his camera rain covers shattered like glass. Despite the cold he was able to get amazing footage of the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis by using the slow shutter and timelapse features of his XDCAM EX cameras. Being solid state cameras they were not as affected by the cold as a tape camera would be. In fact the only issue he encountered was the LCD display becoming a little sluggish, but then what do you expect when it’s colder than the average deep freeze!
nO SHIT: WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DUDE; MIAMI?
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO ~ please visit our 1-minute song on this same subject:
What: NORTHERN LIGHTS !
Holy shit it’s so beautiful there!!
This is one of the best field tests on a camera i have yet seen,as for the low light performance ,if you can get shots like this then it has done the job and it did it well.
@SagginWillies, that’s very rude. Even if you are right that didn’t need to be said. Your clearly a biget and oviously has no idea that diversity is what makes the world and it’s countries soo interesting. Your missing out on a lot by thinking that way and I feel sorry for you.
I like Norway, no blacks or minorities. Makes me happy to know that such a beautiful peaceful place can exist.
hey what would be the best time of year to go and see them ??
great video x
Freaking wonderful! Doesn’t make me want to go to Norway, but I’m glad there are other people with cameras and a tolerance for Arctic cold! Great job!
What a fabulous video you made, Alister! I love your commentary, the peaceful ambient music that accompanied it and of course your excellent photography or videography of the aurora–just lovely! Thanks so much for sharing your unique experience with us!
I wanna go to Norway so bad now!!!
@sebis2009 What part of Norway are you from & do you actually know where this film was made I’m thinking it was made near Hammerfest or Kirkenes, I know a little bit about the towns of Norway but that’s it & as a Australian I’d love to visit your beautiful country one day.
