Is Santa from Lapland or from Alaska?

Question by Rino: Is Santa from Lapland or from Alaska?
My European friends keep telling me he is from the town of Rovaniemi in Lapland, while all my American friends tell me that he is from Alaska. Where is he from? Are there two Santas? I am going to be brokenhearted.
