I’m thinking of visiting some friends in Santa Barbara in December and was thinking that if I’m going there, we might as well all go to the Santa Barbara wineries since I’ve been wanting to visit a winery for a long time but never had the time to. I was wondering if going this time of year would not be fruitful because of the weather and the wineries possibly closing on certain days? If it is a bad time to go, what are some interesting, festive things to do in Santa Barbara for the holidays? Ex: parades, photo opportunities with Santa, Holiday concerts?

Santa Barbara is a school town in a beautiful part of the central California coast right on the Pacific Ocean. December is a high risk period to travel especially if you are going wine tasting. Make sure you have a designated non drinking driver for your holiday travels.

Santa Barbara (as well as Ventura County) has the best weather in the world. Winters aren’t too bad. We’ve had a drought up here for quite sometime, so there isn’t much rain. But you can always expect the marine layer to come in the mornings.

It’s never a bad time to visit Santa in December….just make sure it’s before the 24th…else he won’t be in…..
Sorry please forgive me…. I’m in a silly mood….Christmas is coming, I act like a werewolf on a full moon at this time of year….lol
You can visit the wineries in Santa Barbara any time of the year. (most of them are actually a little north around the Solvang area)

I was in this area wine tasting last January and had a nice sunny weekend and all of the wineries were open for business!
