I can only be in Oslo for 2 or 3 days. Could you see if I could travel from london to oslo for a short trip an see the northern lights on new years eve? I need to know how much it will cost me in AU dollars. If you could work it all out and email me please :)

I am sorry to disappoint you, but northern lights (aurora borealis) are very uncommon to see in Oslo. In my 30 years of living here I have seen it appear in Oslo once and that was absolutely not on new years eve.

You will have a better chance at seeing them if you travel somewhere above the arctic circle like Tromsø, Alta or Svalbard, but still you won’t have a guarantee that the weather will be clear. Also, moving away from the cities with their light pollution will improve the experience. Most city skies will be filled with fireworks on new years. A mountain cabin would your safest bet if you absolutely have to see northern lights..

It’s difficult to say anything about how much it would cost, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be cheap.
