Careers involving travel/adventure and possibly animals?
Question by Loving Life: Careers involving travel/adventure and possibly animals?
For YEARS I’ve been planning to become a vet (I absolutely LOVE animals) but now I’ve suddenly changed my mind and I don’t know what to do. I need to choose subject options really soon because next year is my last year! I’ve recently discovered that I LOVE airplanes (now I’m considering flight attendant but I’m too short and I doubt I’ll be growing much anymore) and I really love traveling the world! I want to go everywhere (Rome, Ireland, Africa, Fiji, Mexico, Vietnam…) I also love adventure and really ‘outdoor’ activities!
I like science (chemistry, but not really biology) and I’m pretty good at it (not bragging or anything haha).
And I reckon paleontologists/zoologists etc and careers that involve ‘discovering’ things/adventuring are PERFECT for me, except I don’t know any kinds of careers that suit me!
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks heaps

look at national geographic – if u could get into a team, the world is yours.
rethink vet. it can take u round the world.
u’re still young – how old r u? its still early. get a degree – a professional one then decide what u wanna do. u can travel and then stay put down in one place and still have a good degree to fall back on. www.virtuesproject.com will help u build confidence. all the best

Most of the things you have discussed do involve biology more so than chemistry, especially if animals are involved. A good thing for you to do might be to spend some time hovering over a career guide, then looking at the colleges that offer those majors and their curriculum content that would help you attain the goal you choose for yourself. Nature and wildlife photography is yet another.
Lofty ambitions and a nice goal in life, but you have to choose the best path to help you attain that goal. That just requires some skull work on your part along with making every effort to talk with people in those fields you see as a potential for you, so that you will get the real deal as it is.
Good luck and best wishes.
