Can someone please recommend a good safari lodge in south africa that wont cost an arm and a leg?

Question by bodo1182: Can someone please recommend a good safari lodge in south africa that wont cost an arm and a leg?
I’m looking into going to south africa and we would like to spend 3 nights in a good safari lodge in south africa (preferably kruger park).
Every lodge I looked into cost about 0-1000 a night (per person!). Are there any lodges that might cost max. 0 a night for two? Any suggestions?

Thanks :-)

Why are you looking at those places then?

You can get good places for 500usd for two people. Look at SAN Parks official website. (South African National Parks). You will find all the factual information there on Kruger Park etc and availability and rates for specific seasons. Have fun. Kruger National is awesome!

The best area for big game sightings and private lodges is the Sabi Sand Game Reserve adjacent to Kruger.

Elephant Plains Camp is the most affordable and a very good experience for under $200 per person, it does often book up early.

Arathusa is another more reasonably cost property but will be more like $275 to $300 per person depending on the season.

Another good private reserve adjacent to Kruger is the Timbavati Reserve and a good affordable lodge there is Gomo Gomo Game Lodge that will be less than $250 per person.

These more budget properties will put 10 people in a vehicle so use the middle seats but the lodges are nice, wildlife viewing great and they are very good values.

I have provided a link to my Africa Safari blog – which you may find useful in your planning – also a list of North American Tour Operators. I hope this helps!
