I don’t think there ARE any good places to visit in Africa, what with all the civil wars, famine, drought, ethnic cleansing, crime, murders, militant people blowing up pipelines etc… Africa is the very LAST continent I would want to visit if I was concerned about sights and safety.
What do you think? Answer below!

cape town in south africa, pemba in mozambique, the kruger park also in sa if im not wrong, maybe also ponta d´ouro in mozambique. but the best beach i know is in pemba and other places around that area.
garrisson – not all africa is like that. only some places. turistic zones are definately far from the image you have.
You had better get fresh updates right before you go. Things change very quickly over there. A nice place a year ago could be a war zone now. I would contact the American Embassys and ask them first.
Don’t believe the myths!
There are many African countries that have a long established tourism industry.
IMHO the countries offering the best package, value for money, sights/landmarks, safaris, safety, are the following, in order of preference.
Tanzania (I’m bias – I love the place)
Malawi
Kenya
Zambia
Botswana
Namibia
Zimbabwe
South Africa has the greatest infrastructure for tourists but is far more expensive.
Countries in West Africa such as Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso offer the best value for money but have less tourist infrastructure than East Africa. There’s hardly any large game remaining in this area except for some elephants in Northern Ghana.
I would still travel in Kenya and Zimbabwe despite the current trouble, just avoid certain regions and some areas of major cities.
Life continues in these countries, including the tourism industry.
